About Me
This is my eighth year at NPA and my tenth year as a teacher. I have an thirteen year old daughter named Riley and a cat named Spencer. When I'm not teaching, you can find me hiking, boating, playing softball or creating art. I have worked as an advertising account executive, a regional sales manager, a river guide, a ski and snowboard instructor, an artist and even a baker to name a few. I received a BA in Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara and a masters in education from Northern Arizona University. Some recent awards include the Vernier Technology Award for innovative use of technology in the classroom given by the National Science Teachers Association as well as the SEDI TASC award for my ecology curriculum that includes studying leaf packs and the Giving is Living award for creating curriculum that promotes Education for Sustainability. In 2018 I was nominated for a Viola Award for excellence in science teaching in 2018 and 2019. Check out my NOAA Teacher at Sea page if you want to learn more about my adventures tagging sharks in the Gulf of Mexico!
